CP: When was Rhinestone Angel established?

RA: I opened Rhinestone Angel Labor Day Weekend 2003 in Flatonia, TX. In 2005, my mom sold her flower shop and joined me full-time as a co-owner. In 2016, we were able to build a new building 10 feet behind our existing store and tripled our square footage. This coming Labor Day we are excited to be celebrating our 15th Year Anniversary!

CP: Congratulations on your anniversary! What was the idea or inspiration to open your store?

RA: I always had a passion for design! While at Texas A&M University, I studied Floral Design at the Benz School, while getting my BBA in Marketing. My dream was to open a store that would encompass home decor, women’s style, and accessories along with great gifts all under one roof!

CP: Your background in design definitely shows in your store, what’s your favorite part about being a small business owner? 

RA: My favorite part about being a small business owner is the amazing amount of creativity that I get to have every day…as exhausting as it can be…it’s exhilarating! One day our team might be resetting the clothing area, then 2 pallets of freight arrive, which leads to a total overhaul of the home decor vignettes, and then a customer comes in and wants 2 custom door swags, and then new clothing arrives and we need to redress 5 mannequins, and then 6 boxes of jewelry arrive and it’s time to redo the jewelry cases and coordinate the busts…there’s always something to do…never a dull moment.

CP: What kind of products are sold at Rhinestone Angel?

RA: We sell a little taste of everything no matter what your style is: from rustic to classic to edgy. We have women’s clothing and accessories, footwear, home decor, lighting, floral, and gifts for all ages!

CP: With your vast product assortment, how has social media impacted your growth?

RA: Immensely! Facebook and Instagram have facilitated how we reach new customers and stay in contact with existing customers. We are able to share information on new arrivals, trends, promotions, store events, etc. all with a click of a button!

CP: Your experience in owning a small business is great and truly inspiring. What advice can you share with new store/business owners?

RA: My advice to new store owners is to never get complacent— in this type of environment you really can’t afford to…my brain is constantly ON…What’s next? … What’s the next promotion? What’s the next hot new product? What’s trending on social media? What’s the next email blast about? and the list goes on!!!
